A traditional jewelry making technique, lost wax casting dates back 5,000 years. In lost wax casting, an original model is created from wax or clay. It is from this model that the artist creates a mold into which molten wax is poured. The wax is then fused to a rubber base where a metal flask is attached. Here, refractory plaster is poured into the flask where it is later burned out. At this point, the mold is ready for metal casting. All WXYZ castings are hand finished.
